Avatar (2009) Re-Score/Re-Sound Design
For this project, I reimagined the emotional tone of a scene from Avatar (2009) by replacing its original soundtrack and sound design with a custom score and soundscape. I selected the “Tree of Voices” sequence, an emotionally charged moment in the film, and created a new non-diegetic track blending the melodic elements of R&B with trap rhythms. My goal was to explore how an alternate soundtrack could shift an audience’s emotional perception of the same visuals. The new score gradually builds in intensity, using synth pads, layered vocals, and bell textures to complement the growing intimacy between the characters. I also recreated the lush jungle ambience from scratch, layering environmental noises like forest ambience, treefrog calls, and water sounds to preserve the immersive setting. This project allowed me to experiment with synchronization, emotional pacing, and sonic texture while demonstrating my technical abilities in scoring, mixing, and sound design.
